I was up early to get to the Patisserie to buy breakfast. I bought an assortment of things that all disappeared by late morning. We left our dock at 8:45 begin our voyage. The canal started in 1667 is a series of locks and winding passages that goes past tiny towns, fields of vineyards and under bridges. Our top speed is about 5 mph so it’s quite pleasant. Today is our first day of beautiful weather. It’s sunny and warm with a light breeze.
We took turns driving so that most of us could feel comfortable driving the boat.
We passed many spots but finally decided to pull over around 3:30.
It is Sunday. Nothing is open. I walked into town finding everything closed. We sat on the boat and had drinks and h’ors d’oeuvres. There was a nice restaurant right on the quai. We chose to have dinner there. It suited our needs.
We could watch our boat as we ate. Then we climbed back on board and were ready to plan for our next days. There is no rush. We have already gone about 1/4 of the way.
