The day began with breakfast of anything left in the refrigerator…hard boiled eggs, ham, yesterday’s leftover salad, cherry tomatoes…
We left the dock around 9 am for a 2 hour trip under more bridges and through locks.

There were many large boats parked along the canal. We have seen some along the way but now there were many abandoned boats as well as live aboards. In many areas it is free to drive spikes in the banks and tie up for any amount of time.
As we approached the final lock we saw 2 red lights at the entrance meaning we could not go into the lock. We tied up along the canal to investigate and wait. There were 3 people busily inspecting what appeared to be the lock control mechanism. After about 20 minutes, the lock controller signaled to us to come into the lock as he turned the entrance light to green. Whew. We got through the final lock and traveled a short distance to the base where we were to dock and leave the boat tomorrow. It’s a crowded little harbor.

Once we were settled, it was time for a much needed shower. We had boat showers along the way but having the luxury of limitless warm water is a real treat. We then had a nice lunch at the dockside cafe. It was typically French and quite relaxed.
We had a lazy afternoon sitting under our canopy and reading and talking. Michael and Helen left for the airport at 5 pm. They have a 6 am flight to Paris out of Montpelier tomorrow . They will have a short night in the airport hotel.
We got ready for our final dinner and had cocktails on board with some folks we had met at an earlier stop who are not with our group but fun people.
We boarded a bus for a trip to our dinner spot. It was a country restaurant with a big area for our group. We had pre-ordered dinner making the evening easy. The dinner went along nicely and we got to mix with people we hadn’t met before. The bus brought us back to the boat basin for our last night on board. Fun trip.
