21 May 2026 – Thursday – On the way to Beziers

We were all up early to get in line for the “staircase locks “ which are a series of 6 locks dropping us down gradually as we approach the medieval town of Beziers. The locks are controlled so that each direction up or downstream is controlled by the lock master.there is a designated time for each direction. We were positioned to go in the first early group at 8:10.  We were part of the second group through the locks. We arrived in Beziers past the locks around 10 am.
Once we tied up, we dealt with trash and went to a nearby market for water and beer. Ginny and I ventured out to take train ride around the city. It was an easy way to visit the highlights of the city. It was a big uphill climb to the train but the return was an easy downhill walk.

We returned to the boat to relax before dinner We had planned a pasta and salad dinner. It was easy and tasty.
We cleaned up and all got ready for our last trip down the canal tomorrow. It’s been a fun interesting journey.
