It’s hard to believe we have made it through 3 out of 5 days already. Today was not exactly what our room expected. The first case went well. We started the second case, a 19 year old to have a second stage operation, but there was an infection in the area and the surgeons chose to open and cleanse the wound to make it recover for another time. Our third case was a second stage surgery that I didn’t photograph.

But…I added photos of other cases that our team is doing. Wes, a resident in anesthesia from Stanford, was happily getting his patient to sleep. He is a terrific resident who has adapted easily to our routine.

Lisa sent me a photo of a baby she took care of with a big cleft lip and palate. The result is pretty beautiful.

Then several of us went out for a delicious meal at a nearby restaurant. It takes a bit of coaxing to get some tired members to go out, but they always rise to the occasion and enjoy the evening. I insist that 6 pm is way too early to go to bed!

We are such a great group. The new people are really thrilled to be a part of this effort. In the dinner photo, only Dave and I are returning members. Pretty sweet to bring people from many places and be having such a good time together.
More tomorrow.
Wonderful to see progress. There should be more people in the world like you. It does look like you’re having fun. All the “newbies” are lucky to have someone like you as mentor. PLUS…you bring FUN to every party!!
