Flying home from Vietnam is a process. We spent much of Thursday at a beautiful hotel just outside DaNang. They offer a daycation option where you pay a fee that allows access to this exclusive resort including lunch and beach and gym access. It allowed us to be close to the airport and not need to be sitting in our hotel lobby trying to pass the time after 2 pm checkout. Lunch was a lovely 3 course meal at a restaurant high above the beach.

Our 5 hour, 11pm flight to Seoul was on time. We sat in the business class lounge in Seoul where it was sort of time for breakfast. It was 3 am in Vietnam but 5 am in Seoul when we landed. We boarded our flight to JFK at 8:30am. It’s a 14-15 hour trip. It’s a long time but I was able to get some sleep. We landed at 9:15 am on the same day we left due to crossing the international date line.
This The rest of the day I opened mail, did laundry and tried my best to stay up past 8pm. I had dinner with my friend Margaret at a restaurant just a block from my apartment. That helped me stay awake. The 11hour time difference coming from half way around the world makes acclimation to home a challenge.
I will continue to try to stay up as late as possible and sleep as late as possible too.
It’s good to be home.
