It is frigid in New York. It has even snowed in Florida. It’s always good to leave town in January and February when possible. Of course Sicily isn’t going to be beachy warm, but it will be about 20 degrees warmer than NYC. AND it will be fascinating.
Last night Patricia and I joined my friend Gail to have dinner at the Met Opera house and see Carmen which is always wonderful.

Patricia and I had a quiet morning in preparation for travel. Our car picked us up at 3:15 to get to JFK on our flight and I got i can to Rome and then connecting to Bari in Puglia, in the heel of the boot of Italy. Luckily we had plenty of time to get there with traffic and then…our driver missed the exit for our terminal. I am now sitting at the bar at the Delta lounge.
This trip will start in the boot of Italy and go on to Sicily to tour the island and trek a ways up Mt Aetna. I look forward to that.
Patricia and I have added on a few days at the end to spend time in Malta. The whole area should be a fascinating range of archeological sites and beautiful buildings Can’t wait!
Tomorrow if all goes according to plan, we will be in Bari where we will spend one night before going to Matera to meet our OAT tour group.
More adventures to come.
