The first day in the OR is always slow and challenging. Despite the best packing, it’s difficult to find some surgical instruments. The paperwork from clinic suddenly needs to be signed even though it was signed electronically. Case turnover is slow because the sterilization equipment is not working correctly. And the day dragged on. The last case came out of the operating room at 9:15. Luckily, I get to leave early tomorrow.
We did some very good and challenging cases.
This hospital is an old mission that is run by the church. Reminders are everywhere.
Since most restaurants close at 10 pm, we were planing to go to Taco Bell which stays open until midnight. It’s supposed to be very good. It would be my very first Taco Bell experience!
Oh yes! Last minute reprieve. The OR team went back to our hotel and was eating at the bar. They offered to order food for us. We gladly accepted. Dinner was drinks and sandwiches. I realized I was very hungry. It was an easy ending to a very long day. Early start again tomorrow.
