We have another long day ahead. Going to Bonavista is about 73 nautical miles. Luckily there is almost no wind and few jellyfish in the harbor so we were able to start the generator and both engines without a problem. We left the dock around 5:30 am.
The trip was excellent. We saw tons of whales and saw a pair breaching very near us. The sea was relatively flat with very little swell. We even had a quick rendezvous with a boat belonging to a friend who is a CCA member going in the opposite direction. He had a book for Max. They exchanged it using boat hooks and a bag. Pretty amazing.
We had a few detours to see whales. They were incredible. They were spouting and playing in the ocean. Some were breaching and displaying their fins. Such an amazing thing to see.
We pulled into Bonavista at about 4:30. Our group hit settled and we had no Terryvidit with the ingredients for a Bloody Caesar. It is a Bloody Mary made with Clamato juice instead of tomato or V-8. A bit sweet and nice. It’s very Canadian.
A boat from Goteborg Sweden docked across from us. They are on their way home after 4 years. What an amazing trip they must have had.
We are off to Port Rexton for beer and amazing grilled cheese for dinner. I will add photos tomorrow. Too much to filter now.
