26 March 2024 – Tuesday – Day One – Leaving Port

We left the dock in a beautiful protected harbor, Porto Escondido, and headed north to our destination, Coronado island. Even in light wind we were able to sail. This 57 foot Oyster with a 92 ft mast and all electric winches was able to sail half the wind speed of 6 knots.

The day was sunny with wind building to 15 knots by afternoon. We arrived at Coronado island to anchor in a beautiful protected spot. Cynda announced that we were going to celebrate Garet’s birthday which was last week. We had margaritas followed by champagne. Marcel made a seafood mix with red sauce for dinner. Birthday cheesecake with candles ended the meal.

The night at anchor was quiet with only 2 other boats in the anchorage. Tomorrow morning we will hike on the island before leaving for our next destination.
