26 March 2024 – Tuesday – Cabo San Lucas to the Marina

I sat next to a mother and daughter on the 5 hour ride. Even with my mask on I felt nervous because the daughter coughed and sneezed the whole way. Hope it was just a cold.

The view as we came in toward the airport was pretty peaks and dry gulches with no green.

Immigration and customs were quick. I met my friends Garet, Cynda and Evan just past the customs area. Marcel, Cynda’s husband, and another friend Jim had gone to get the van. I found it it’s a 7 hour drive to the marina. Oh well.

Actually we stopped in La Paz, for coffee, bread, a little leg stretch and bathrooms. Then off on a winding road through the hills on a narrow road with big truck’s traveling along. Evan said that in his experience, night driving was a bit scary because cows are often on the road. Yes …we nearly hit one. There are no lights and not enough traffic to keep the cows off the road. The sunset glow and full moon rise were spectacular.

We stopped again to buy provisions at a large supermarket. Then off to the marina. The seven hour trip was actually several stops.

We arrived around 10:30, offloaded groceries and luggage and got organized. After a little wine and a bedtime chocolate, it was time for bed. Nice comfy bed and exhaustion made it easy to fall asleep.
