The day began with pastries from the boulangerie patisserie that was recommended by our friends Bill and Johanna. I am not a huge fan of French pastries but these were quite delicious.
Mark and Bev walked into town to look around and reported a street fair with crafts , music and food. We had to go. There were the usual crafty things, rings, earrings, bracelets and one woman sold some pretty embroidered dish towels that were appealing. The food looked frantic only we hadn’t just eaten breakfast. They had grilled sausage, onions and mushrooms. Yum…I think.
Our afternoon included a private tour of the island with a few friends from other boats. The island if St Pierre is about the same size as Bermuda so we saw everything in an hour. The fishing shacks with dories(small flat bottomed boats) are interesting because you can see that they are brought on land by a manual windlass. Hard work! We then returned to a dock cocktail party with friends and others on the dock. We went to dinner at Le Select which we were told was one of the best places in St Pierre.

There are about 5 restaurants in town so it is often difficult to get a reservation. Dinner was tasty. I had flank steak! Others had curried chicken. There seems to be a lot of Tunisian cooking on the island. It was a nice quiet day.
